Minister and MP offer opposing views on regional corporations’ funding

Local Government Minister Faris Al-Rawi and St Augustine MP Khadijah Ameen offered up opposing views over allocations to regional corporations.

In his contribution to the budget debate, Mr Al Rawi said funds under his Ministry were not spent due to the procurement law.

Meanwhile, MP Ameen criticized the Minister, saying there are delays for the corporations to receive funding.

In another matter, Mr Al-Rawi says two mobile apps are being tested to allow residents to report infrastructure issues in their communities and to track on duty municipal police officers.

However, Ms Ameen said the apps are recycled promises by the Minister, noting that he mentioned those projects during last year’s budget debate.
