The Minister of Health says there have been three lab-confirmed cases of Malaria in Trinidad and Tobago for this year so far.
In the Parliament, Terrence Deyalsingh criticized the Opposition for its question on the matter, in which the word outbreak was used.
He says the figures show that there is no Malaria outbreak in this country.
The Minister said the country has been deemed a ‘Malaria-free state’ since 1965 by PAHO.
Meanwhile, while Dengue cases have been rising since the start of the year, there has been only 123 lab-confirmed cases from January to May.
Minister Deyalsingh outlined the monthly figures in the Parliament.
The Opposition asked what was being done by the Ministry to address the situation.
This was the Minister’s response.
