Political Leader of the Patriotic Front, Mickela Panday, believes the recently declared State of Emergency is “desperate admission” by the government that it has lost control in the war against gangs.
In a statement, she accused the Government of doing nothing to address the flow of high-powered weapons into the country, and believes the SoE is a smokescreen as opposed to a solution.
She said, “The government is recycling the same failed strategies, hoping for different results, while offering no new ideas or real action to deal with crime at its root. They have failed to protect us, and now they seek to use extraordinary measures to hide their incompetence.”
Ms Panday adds that her party stands ready with “innovative, actionable solutions” to address crime and restore order without trampling on the rights of people.
