A period of extremely hot conditions is expected to affect Trinidad and Tobago until September 29th, 2023.
The Met Service has today issued a Yellow Level Hot Spell Warning which says there is a high probability (80%) for temperatures near 34°C or greater over the next two weeks.
It notes that the “feel-like” temperature can reach as high as 44°C.
The hottest time of the day is between 10am and 4pm and the Met Service is urging people to be cautious as high temperatures can be hazardous, especially to the elderly, sick adults, and young children.
It suggests that people should wear appropriate clothing, stay hydrated at all times, keep out of direct sunlight and open appropriate windows, vents and doors at home.
T&T is in the midst of the heat season, which runs from May to October.
