The TTPS, Social Development Ministry and National Security Ministry met today to discuss matters related to preventing and addressing corruption and fraudulent activities.
Of particular concern are recipients of Senior Citizens’ Pension.
The Social Development Ministry says matters being investigated include financial abuse, encashment of pension cheques at supermarkets, the use of fake cheques and use of fake ID cards by perpetrators.
Other issues discussed were:
• Misrepresentation of deactivated clients
• Falsification of data
• Perpetrators who encash counterfeit cheques at supermarkets;
• Individuals living abroad and receiving grants
• Cheques of deceased individuals still being encashed
• Stolen Food Cards
• Updates on matters sent to the Anti-Corruption Investigations Bureau and the Fraud Squad.
• Data and Information Sharing among parties
National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds has reportedly committed to working closely with the Social Development Ministry and offered pertinent advice in order to eradicate the cases of fraud and corruption.
