A medical product alert has been issued for a batch of contaminated Naturcold Cough Syrup identified in Cameroon.

According to the Health Ministry, the WHO alert was issued after samples of the cough syrup showed unacceptable amounts of diethylene glycol, which is toxic to humans.

The Ministry says while the cough syrup is not registered for sale in T&T, it is still advising persons who may be in possession of the product, to discontinue use immediately and return the product to the place of purchase.
