Mayaro MP wants action on three projects to address water woes

The Mayaro MP is calling on government to act on three water supply projects for the constituency proposed almost two years ago.

This morning, residents of Union Village protested over a poor water supply by burning debris and blocking the road.

In a media release, shortly after, MP Rushton Paray says the constituency is again being disrupted by unresolved engineering issues at WASA’s San Pedro Booster Station.

One project which he says can help is the operationalisation of an old Petrotrin facility which the People’s Partnership started to retrofit to add 2 million gallons of water into the constituency.

MP Paray says work was completed since 2017 and all that is missing is a pipeline to connect the facility to the area’s main line.

Also yet to be completed, he says, is the commissioning of a new water treatment plant, drawing water from the Ortoire River and the laying of a 14” pipeline from Navet to Tableland which would facilitate uninterrupted access of the existing pipeline to Rio Claro.
