A 38-year-old man has been fined $4,000 for stealing hundreds of oranges and plantains.

On October 25th 2023, an estate owner in Matura caught a man taking 45 plantain grains and 300 oranges worth an estimated $2,400.

Police later traced and charged Adrian Mitchell of Mora Trace, Matura, with praedial larceny and being found on cultivated lands.

He appeared before Sangre Grande Magistrate Nannette Forde-John on Monday, where he pleaded guilty and was fined $2,000 on each charge.

He will face six months in jail should he fail to pay the within the stipulated four month period
