The founder of Marios Pizza, Richard Harford has passed away.
According to a post by Marios, “Richard Harford, known affectionately as ‘Big Slice,’ embodied greatness in every aspect of his character. Beyond being Mario’s Pizzeria’s founder, he was a visionary and a source of inspiration in Trinidad and Tobago’s culinary scene. His remarkable persona was complemented by his immense generosity, unwavering integrity, and deep kindness.
As an innovative entrepreneur, Richard led the way with his relentless pursuit of excellence and creativity. In 1972, he transformed a humble ice cream shop into the nation’s first local pizza parlour, reshaping the culinary landscape of our country.”
The company added that “As we bid farewell to ‘Big Slice,’ we do not mourn the loss of a mere entrepreneur; we celebrate the lasting legacy of a visionary leader, a beloved mentor, a cherished friend, and a devoted father. Richard Harford’s contributions to our culinary heritage and his profound impact on our lives will forever be remembered. Farewell, dear friend; your spirit lives on in every slice of Mario’s pizza, serving as a testament to your enduring legacy of excellence and compassion.”
