A 42-year-old welder was remanded into custody after appearing in court on assault charges.

The victim reported to police that on February 19th 2024, she was at home when she got into an argument with a man known to her.

He allegedly beat her, threatened to kill her, and broke her cellphone.

The man was arrested a short while later and subsequently charged with assault occasioning a wound, assault by threats, and malicious damage.

He appeared before Master Sookraj-Goswami in the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court on February 21st 2024, with the matter adjourned to March 6th 2024
