Man killed outside arrivals at Piarco airport

A chaotic and traumatic scene occurred around 2am today outside the Piarco International Airport, when gunmen opened fire on an SUV parked near the arrivals area.

The incident left one man dead, and another person from the vehicle was reportedly injured.

According to a report on the Express, the security officials at the airport said up to four flights landed around that time, so there were quite a few passengers, families and even children around.

The incident caused panic, as the officers said many passengers abandoned their luggage in the rush to safety.

Guardian Media reported that the victim was a Maraval man who earlier arrived on a flight from Panama.

He died after being taken by ambulance for medical treatment.

This is the second homicide since the State of Emergency ended on Sunday.
