A 61-year-old man initially held for arson in Mayaro was denied bail for the attempted murder of a family of eight.

Ramsaran Kowlesser was arrested following the incident on November 13th, where the family was awoken by cracking sounds, the smell of smoke and flames at their house.

The family includes four adults and three minors – a seven-month-old, a six-year-old and nine year-old.

The family escaped the flames and were taken for treatment, while the accused was subsequently held and charged.
