Around 2:55pm yesterday, officers on mobile patrol responded to a report of a vehicle stolen at gunpoint in Pinto.
The vehicle was found and followed into La Horquetta, where it reportedly crashed along Heliconia Crescent.
A suspect exited and allegedly fired at the officers as he escaped.
A short while later, officers received information that a man fitting the suspect’s description had been seen in a yard along Plumbago Avenue.
There, they confronted the man who allegedly pointed a gun at the officers, causing them to open fire.
The suspect, later identified as Marvin Cooke, was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police recovered a Glock 19 pistol with a magazine containing 13 rounds of ammunition and one spent shell casing at the scene.
