The man charged in connection with the attempted murder of a prison officer and a minor, is now dead.

According to a statement from the Prison Service, around 10:20pm on October 20th 2023, Emmanuel Joseph was taken to the Arima Health Facility after complaining about chest pains.

The statement says he was attended to and subsequently pronounced dead.

It adds that the Police Service was informed and is currently investigating the matter.

Joseph was remanded into custody after appearing in court on October 19th 2023.

He was charged with six offenses stemming from a shooting outside the home of the Deputy Prisons Commissioner.
