A Port of Spain man has appeared in court charged with the 2022 murder of a 9-year-old girl.

Little Aneilia Butler was at home in Beetham Gardens with her family on February 23rd when a fire took place.

Attempts to reach her were futile and her body was found after the blaze was extinguished.

35-year-old Juman Ali Sahadath was arrested last month and subsequently charged.

He appeared before a Master of the High Court on March 5th.
