On Wednesday, Machel Montano will be presented with an Entertainer’s Key to the City of New York.

The honour will be bestowed as he headlines the Rise Up NYC concert series on August 25th at Roy Wilkins Park in Queens.

The series is billed as a celebration of community, diversity, and resilience, bringing people together through the universal language of music.

Following this show, Montano will headline several shows at the famed Apollo Theatre in Harlem, from August 30th to September 2nd 2024.

Considered a global soca icon, Montano is also the reigning Calypso Monarch.
