As it prepares to commemorate World Lupus Day, the Voice of Lupus Foundation is calling on the public to join it in urging government to enhance financial support for Lupus patients.

Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease where the immune system, which normally helps protect the body, attacks its own tissues.

Siparia resident Candace John explained to 103.1FM News, just how debilitating the disease can be and how it affects her ability to work.

Voice of Lupus Foundation Reeanna Harrilal said, without enhanced government support, patients will continue to experience financial hardships.

World Lupus Day will be commemorated tomorrow, and the Voice of Lupus Foundation is hosting a health fair and candlelight vigil from 1pm to 7pm at Brian Lara Promenade in Port of Spain.
