Phases 1 and 2 of upgrades at the Lopinot Historical Complex have been commissioned, while Phase 3 has commenced.

On Saturday, a ceremony was held to commemorate the completed works and the start of the third phase of upgrades.

The Tourism Ministry says Phases 1 and 2 included the upgrade of washrooms and the reconstruction of a pedestrian bridge that leads to the Complex.

There were also adjustments to the facility’s physical features to ensure equal access for persons with disabilities, enabling wheelchair access throughout the site.

The Ministry says Phase 3 includes $15 million directed towards the refurbishment of the Count House, Jail House, Cocoa House and the general Complex.

This includes roof and floor repairs, replacement of windows and doors, plumbing, electrical work, painting, CCTV camera upgrades to ensure safety of patrons and more.
