Local officers get training from US officials

DEA officials from the United States are here in Trinidad to train local law enforcement officers in drug intelligence collection and analysis.

Among those being trained are officers from the TTPS, Transnational Organized Crime Unit, SIU, Customs, Coast Guard and Prison Service.

The US Ambassador says the US training supports local efforts to address crime and violence, and to make T&T safer.

She says improving citizen security depends on securing convictions—which in turn depends on the professionalism and integrity of intelligence collection and analysis.

Just last week, the US issued an official advisory, warning citizens to reconsider travelling to T&T due to the crime situation.
