The Local Government Ministry says it has intensified its efforts to enhance preparedness and resilience across communities for the upcoming rainy season.

It says the relevant equipment has been deployed for desilting exercises in drains and watercourses.

Additionally, a Disaster Preparedness Outreach Programme has been launched in primary and secondary schools, to empower students with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond effectively to natural disasters.

The Met Service is expecting an earlier than usual start to the Rainy Season, which traditionally begins on June 1st.
