The Local Government Ministry has launched an island-wide mosquito control programme.
Due to begin on August 5th, the initiative will focus on the identification and elimination of mosquito breeding grounds.
It will include the cutting and clearing of overgrown lots, as well as the cleaning and maintaining of drains, ditches and other channels prone to stagnation.
The Ministry and CEPEP will collaborate with two Municipal Corporations weekly to address high risk areas.
The following schedule has been released:
Members of the public are urged to report all potential breeding sites via WhatsApp on 766-4199 or by contacting their corporation.
Persons are also being urged to ensure their homes and properties do not harbour mosquito breeding sites.
According to the Health Ministry’s last update last week, there have been five lab confirmed Dengue deaths and over 500 lab confirmed cases of the illness.
