The UNC’s Local Government Election win in Arima Northeast has been overturned after a check by the EBC.
The PNM requested the check of the ballots after a recount of votes broke a tie in the district with the UNC’s Jairzinho Rigsby getting 624 votes and the PNM’s Kim Garcia getting 623.
However, in a media release, the EBC says following its check of the ballots today, Ms Garcia received two additional votes.
This means she has won the district with 625 votes to the Mr Rigsby’s 624 – the PEP’s Curt Clement remained with 81.
The EBC says the check was conducted by Assistant Chief Election Officer Pamela Ogiste.
