Lee to become Hurricane later on Wednesday

While Tropical Storm Lee is moving across the Atlantic towards the Caribbean, Trinidad and Tobago is not expected to be directly impacted.

Continued steady to rapid strengthening is forecast, and Lee is expected to become a hurricane later today and a major hurricane in a couple of days. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 130 km from the center.

The Met Service says while it will not have a direct impact on this country, it could cause instability in the atmosphere later this week.

As a result, Friday and Saturday are forecast to be mostly fair with partly cloudy patches and a chance of isolated thunderstorms near hilly areas.

Tropical Storm Lee is forecast to become a major hurricane later this week and could impact other northern Leeward Islands.
