The Law Association says there is an urgent need to implement security measures for all prosecutors and judicial officers in the criminal justice system.

This call follows the murder of attorney Randall Hector on December 31st 2024.

Mr Hector was fatally shot in front his family as they left a church service in Port of Spain.

The Association says he played an integral part in the administration of the criminal justice system in T&T and was a prosecutor in the DPP’s office.

It adds that the objectives of the current State of Emergency “cannot be realized without the fearless efforts of the legal and judicial officers who are engaged in the criminal prosecution of violent offenders”.
