The Labour Ministry says outstanding stipends for OJT trainees will be credited to individual bank accounts on or before November 27th 2023.

This comes as it gave more information on recent changes to improve OJT Stipend Processing.

It says over the last two years, there was a comprehensive review of internal processes, leading to a decision to transition to the Government’s Integrated Payroll System for the automation of the payroll.

The transition began in July 2023 in Tobago, and concluded recently in Trinidad where it was implemented on a phased basis.

The Ministry says there were technical challenges during the transition, which notably delayed stipend payments to 100 trainees during the period August to October 2023.

With regard to the payments, it says in cases where there may be other mitigating circumstances, it will work to have these matters settled.
