KPB to ‘proudly lead the charge’ for UNC in general elections

Kamla Persad-Bissessar has confirmed she will lead the UNC for the next General Elections, due in 2025.

During the meeting of the party’s National Executive, MPs, and Senators yesterday, she said the UNC will soon seek nominations for General Election candidates.

It follows the recent Local Government Elections, where the UNC won control of seven municipal corporations, and got the most votes out of all contesting parties.

A UNC media release stated “The Political Leader officially placed the party on a General Election footing and advised that the Party will soon seek nominations for candidates for the next General Elections. She indicated that she will proudly lead the charge whenever the general elections are called, in keeping with the mandate given to her by the mass membership of the UNC.”

Meanwhile, at the meeting, the UNC leader says as the national budget presentation nears, Budget Consultations will be held in each municipal corporation.

Other issues discussed at the National Executive and Parliamentarians meeting included:

· Operationalisation of the party’s Dispute Resolution Committee and Disciplinary Committee

· Local Government Election matters, including statistical analyses, EBC irregularities, election petitions in Lengua/Indian Walk and Arima Northeast, and other matters

· Training for all Local Government representatives

· Parliamentary Issues

· Upcoming EBC Reports on Boundary Changes

· General Election Planning
