The driver of a Kiss truck was killed this morning in an accident along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway in Couva
Around 6:45am, the truck was heading south when it was hit by a black Hyundai Ioniq in the vicinity of the Ato Boldon Stadium.
The TTPS says the Ioniq was speeding as it attempted to overtake vehicles on the right lane, and hit the truck after pulling along the shoulder.
It drove off after the accident.
55-year-old Neil Ballai of Eccles Trace, Spring Village was pinned when the truck landed on the driver’s side – he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck’s passenger, a 34-year-old man, was taken for medical treatment.
A dashcam video of the accident has since gone viral, with members of the public expressing shock over how it unfolded.
Many also demanded action and charges for the driver of the Ioniq, with some even taking it upon themselves to try to track down the culprit.
According to some reports, the Ioniq’s driver is due to turn himself into police soon.
