Kenya’s Alex Ekesa won the 42nd T&T International Marathon after clocking a time of 2:31:28 on Sunday.
Jose Ararat Diaz of Colombia followed in third place with a time of 2:46:38, while Elvis Turner finished fourth in 2:53:13, closely followed by Christopher Mitchell in 2:54:46, rounding out the top five.
In the women’s category, first place went to Colombia’s Palmenia Agudelo Berrio who ran a time of 2:58:23.
Chantel Le Maitre claimed second place in 3:42:34, followed by last year’s winner Shardie Mahabir in third with a time of 3:59:29. Christine Regis finished fourth in 3:59:10, and Sjaelan Evans made an impressive return to secure fifth place in 4:08:42.
Phillip James and Shari Thomas won the men and women’s half marathon with times of 1:18:25 and 1:53:37.
Among men, Keron Ali trailed behind in second place with a time of 1:26:25, while David Schweitzer secured third place in 1:29:27.
For the women’s run, Kyuwon Son claimed second place in 2:00:29, followed by Jeanine Newton in third with a time of 2:03:51.
A 5K was held on Saturday with Omare Thompson topping the men’s competition with a time of 16:31 and Sarah Guillen placing first among women with a time of 23:43.
