Kamla Persad-Bissessar sworn-in as PM, John Jeremie to serve as AG

Kamla Persad-Bissessar has been sworn-in as Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister.

John Jeremie has also been sworn-in to serve as Attorney General & Minister of Legal Affairs.

Both took their oaths during a ceremony held this afternoon at President’s House.

Speaking afterward, Mrs Persad-Bissessar vowed that citizens will be her priority, as she issued a warning to those set to serve in her administration.

Mrs Persad-Bissessar also reflected on the years that followed her first term as Prime Minister from 2010 to 2015, saying she was humiliated, forgotten and written off.

This will be Mr Jeremie’s third term as Attorney General – he served as AG under the PNM from 2003-2007 and then from 2009-2010.

The rest of Mrs Persad-Bissessar’s cabinet will be announced on Saturday.
