Judiciary launches Self-Help tools for court customers & the public

The Judiciary has launched a new suite of court service information and training material designed to support self-represented customers or Litigants in Person, and members of the public.

This material is specially constructed using plain-language techniques; with step-by-step calls to action, tips and guidance for persons engaging with court services in the areas of Divorce, Child Maintenance, Bail, the Criminal Court Process, and Probate, among others.

It says the initiative is the product of the Securing Access, Fairness and Efficiency (SAFE) Project; a collaborative effort between the Judiciary and the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Section of the US Embassy in T&T and the National Center for State Courts.

A suite of self-paced training modules has also been developed on the JustConnect e-learning platform for judges, judicial officers, and court staff to be exposed to best practices for engaging with self-represented litigants in the courtroom.
