Jayden Lalchan’s cousin calls for meaningful change

A funeral was held today for 15-year-old Jayden Lalchan.

The teenager took his own life last week.

His parents say he had been bullied for years, leading to an uproar from persons accusing school and other authorities of failing to act.

At his funeral today, relatives mourned Jayden, describing him as intelligent, kind and quiet.

One relative has since called for meaningful changes to ensure no other family endures the same pain.

Jayden was born in New York and moved to Trinidad with his parents in 2015.

He was a student at St Stephen’s College in Princes Town.

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar was also present and addressed those gathered.

She says all steps must be taken to ensure justice for Jayden, saying it was not about retribution but to ensure that bullying is not condoned.
