A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to two years’ hard labour after pleading guilty to the violent robbery of a 73-year-old woman.

Kurt Cooper appeared in court yesterday on charges stemming from an incident on September 7th 2023 at Fort George Branch Road, Indian Walk.

Police say an elderly woman was accosted at her home by three masked men, robbed of $1,000 and a cell phone and wounded on both her hands.

Cooper was arrested on October 25th.

Meanwhile, 29-year-old Jermol Bernard pleaded not guilty in the case of a robbery on October 21st 2023 at a bar in Buen Intento, Princes Town.

Two men with firearms allegedly entered the premises and robbed a woman of an iPhone Pro, a UNHCR card, a T&T work permit, TT$1,200, US$100, other items and a sum of cash from the register.

Bernard appeared in court yesterday and was granted $250,000 bail with a surety and is due back in court on November 27th 2023.
