The Islamic Front has written to National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds, over the recent decision to deny entry to Shaykh Uthman Ibn Farooq.
According to a report by the T&T Guardian, Farooq and an eight-member touring party arrived on Sunday afternoon for a 10 day visit that included a Dawah Workshop at the Bamboo Masjid Hall.
However they were allegedly prevented from entering the country after being deemed “undesirable”.
In the letter to Mr Hinds, Islamic Front Head Umar Abdullah, said the decision raises critical questions that demand immediate answers, including the grounds on which the “undesirable” label was given and an alleged lack of opportunity for an appeal or a fair hearing.
He has since called for the decision to be revisited and overturned, with an apology to Farooq and his team.
A call was also made for clear, transparent, and just procedures for future immigration decisions.
