IPL to resume on May 17th, PSL likely to resume soon

The 2025 Indian Premier League will resume on May 17th and end on June 3rd.

A revised schedule announced by the BCCI on Monday.

The official release said the BCCI held “extensive consultations with government and security agencies, and with all the key stakeholders” before finalising the resumption of the tournament.

The tournament was suspended on May 9th for a week due to cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan.

The revised schedule features 13 league games and the four playoff matches.

According to ESPN Cricinfo, this means that the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals game, which was called off midway through the first innings on May 8th in Dharamsala, will be played again, on May 24 in Jaipur, which will be the temporary home base for PBKS.

The match that will restart the tournament on May 17th will be played between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders in Bengaluru.

Thequalifiers will take place as follows: Qualifier 1 on May 29th, the Eliminator on May 30th, Qualifier 2 on June 1st  and the final on June 3rd.

The tournament’s delayed finish means it will now coincide with the ODI series between England and West Indies starting on May 29th in Birmingham and ending on June 3rd at The Oval.
It will lead to a clash for Romario Shepherd (RCB), Shamar Joseph (LSG) and Sherfane Rutherford (GT), who have all been picked in the West Indies ODI squad.
Meanwhile, the PSL is likely to resume later this week with the PCB aiming to hold the remaining games in Pakistan.
The league was also postponed due to increasing cross-border tensions with India.
There are eight games left and the PCB and several franchises are eager to conclude the season as early as possible.
The PSL held meetings with the franchises on Monday to discuss specific dates and venues.
