Alzarri Joseph is an IPL millionaire after being snapped up by Royal Challengers Bangalore in today’s auction.
After a bidding war, Joseph was secured by RCB for 11.5 crore, which is approximately US$1,386,000.
The tag is the second highest auction price for a West Indian, behind Nicholas Pooran’s 16 crore (about US$1,920,000) in 2023 by LSG.
With regard to other West Indians, Rovman Powell was bought by Rajasthan Royals for 7.4 crore or approximately US$892,000; Shai Hope got his maiden IPL deal with Delhi Capitals for 75 lakh (USD 90,500 approx), and Sherfane Rutherford was picked up by KKR 1.5 crore or about US$181,000.
Meanwhile Australian pacer Mitchell Starc is back in the IPL after eight years, after being bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for an all-time high of 24.75 crore or about US$2,982,000.
