AP News: Special forces have been brought in as Israel seeks to take control of four site from Hamas fighters. On Sunday, Israel formally declared war after Hamas launched an incursion. So far, 1,100 people are dead and thousands are wounded on both sides. It reports that Hamas wants to “liberate all Palestinian prisoners” from Israel. It says a spokesman for the group says it wants to end Israeli provocations in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, particularly at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

BBC News: The United States says it is moving an aircraft carrier, ships and jets to the Mediterranean. President Joe Biden has called the Hamas attack “unprecedented and appalling.”

Al Jazeera: Israel has announced a total blockage of Gaza, including a ban on food and water. Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said it is part of a “complete siege” on the Hamas-run area. Meanwhile, the UN Security Council met on the situation but fails to agree on a statement.

Reuters: A number of international air carriers have suspended or reined in flight services to or from Israel after a the attack by Hamas. They say they were waiting for safety conditions to improve. Israel’s civil aviation authority asked airlines to “review current security and threat information” amid the conflict.

CNN: Reports from news agency CNN states that Israel has retaken control of all communities around Gaza. It further reports that there is no ongoing fighting between Israeli forces and Hamas militants inside Israel, according to the Israeli military.
