India’s captain Hardik Pandya has called on Cricket West Indies to manage some aspects of their tour better including travel arrangements.
Following India’s Test series win, which was sealed in Trinidad, the Indian and West Indies teams with other officials were delayed at the Piarco International Airport, as they made their way to Barbados for the first two ODIs.
According to a report on the Newsday, Pandya said “Things can be better when we come to the West Indies next time. From travelling to managing a lot of things. Last year also, some hiccups happened.” He also said “I think it’s time for West Indies Cricket to take note of it and ensure that when a team travels…we don’t ask for luxury, but need some basic necessities taken care of. Other than that, I really enjoyed coming here and playing some good cricket.”
According to the article, the plane that was scheduled to leave Piarco was a chartered flight arranged by Cricket West Indies, but the delay was reportedly out of their hands. Newsday also reported that someone close to the India team said other than the delayed flight the team’s stay in the Caribbean has been comfortable.
