India: Train collision kills at least 13 people

The collision of two trains in Andhra Pradesh, India has killed at least 13 people and injured about 50 others.

The incident occurred on Sunday with preliminary investigations indicating that a “human error” had led to the collision.

A rescue operation was launched and hundreds of emergency workers were called to the site to clear the wreckage.

India Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences and said he was in touch with the railways minister.

Sunday’s accident comes just months after a devastating crash involving three trains killed 292 people and injured thousands more in Odisha.
