India’s Supreme Court will be considering challenges to a 2019 decision to revoke Kashmir’s special status.
There was uproar in 2019 when the Indian government’s decision was announced with opposition politicians condemning the revocation of Article 370 which gives Kashmir a substantial degree of autonomy.
According to Al Jazeera, the Supreme Court will be conducting day-to-day hearing of petitions challenging government’s decision.
The court has directed all parties to submit their written submissions by July 27th.
Article 370 granted Indian-administered Kashmir the ability to have its own constitution, flag and a two-house legislature with the authority to enact its own laws.
