India, Pakistan agree to full & immediate ceasefire

India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire.

A report by BBC News says this has been confirmed by Pakistan’s deputy prime minister.

India however has yet to comment.

Earlier this week, India struck targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir in response to a deadly militant attack on tourists in Pahalgam last month.

Islamabad has denied involvement in that incident.

Both sides have accused each other of cross-border shelling and missile and drone attacks since India launched its military operation.

US President Donald Trump says the ceasefire is the result of “a long night of talks mediated by the United States”.

US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, adds that India and Pakistan will also begin talks on “a broad set of issues at a neutral site”.
