The Hyatt Regency Hotel says a message regarding cashless payment options was “prematurely distributed with inaccurate information”.

The message, shared on its social media pages, reportedly stated that from November 1st, it would no longer be accepting T&T dollars for cash transactions, but instead would only accept US dollars, British Pound Sterling, and Euro dollars.

The post was later deleted.

In another post this afternoon, the hotel says “At this time, we will not be implementing any changes to our payment process. We wish to apologize for any confusion or inconvenience caused.”

Social media users have since been critical, with many questioning any decision in which an entity operating locally would stop accepting local currency payments.
