A Hurricane Warning is in place in Jamaica for Hurricane Beryl, which has strengthened to a category five hurricane.

In the National Hurricane Centre’s latest update, it noted that Beryl should begin weakening later today but is still expected to be near major hurricane intensity as it moves into the central Caribbean and passes by Jamaica on Wednesday.

On Thursday, it is forecast to pass the Cayman Islands – there is a Hurricane Watch in effect for Grand Cayman, Little Cayman and Cayman Brac.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the south coast of Dominican Republic and the south coast of Haiti.
