The Housing Ministry has distributed over $1 million in housing grants and subsidies at a ceremony in Bon Air Gardens, Arouca.
The event saw the distribution of 59 Home Improvement Grants valued at $442,500 and 30 housing subsidies comprising 23 Home Improvement Subsidies and 7 Home Construction Subsidies worth $635,000.
Minister Camille Robinson-Regis told attendees that the housing programmes reflect the Government’s commitment to Vision 2030 and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
Since their inception in 2021, the Home Improvement and Home Construction Subsidy programmes have delivered over 2,384 grants to date.
Today’s beneficiaries came from Arouca/Maloney, Lopinot/Bon Air, D’Abadie/O’Meara, La Horquetta/Talparo, and El Dorado.
Minister Robinson-Regis also spoke about the inclusivity of these initiatives, which she said support a wide cross-section of citizens:
According to the Ministry:
- 75% of today’s grant recipients are women, demonstrating the Ministry’s dedication to empowering female-led households.
- The youngest recipient is 29 years old, while the eldest is 75 years old, reflecting the programme’s inclusivity across generations.
