An elderly woman and her son were tied up and beaten by four bandits during a home invasion in Cunupia this morning.

The 47-year-old man was returning to his home at Ajim Ali Road around 11am, when he was accosted by the suspects who were all carrying guns.

After tying up the victim and his 72-year-old mother, the assailants then proceeded hit them and ransack the house as they demanded cash and other valuables.

The men eventually escaped with a number of items, including a grey Wingroad wagon.

103.1FM News spoke with a neighbour who says the peace in their community has been shattered.

He adds that residents are now terrified for their safety.
