The HDC is urging residents to refrain from using fireworks in its developments.
In a statement, the Corporation says the improper use of fireworks resulted in damage to one resident’s property.
It adds that while the use of fireworks is not illegal, there are laws to restrict the unlawful sale and misuse of such products.
The Summary Offences Act Section 99 (1) states “any person who throws, casts, sets fire to, or lets off any fireworks within any town is liable to a fine of one thousand dollars.”
As such, persons are urged to refrain from using fireworks on HDC compounds, especially where there is dense occupation, or units in close proximity to each other.
