HDC to begin repairs at Charford Courts

The HDC says material will be delivered tomorrow to repair Building E at Charford Courts, after a piece of concrete spalling fell onto four cars on Sunday.

The HDC says pending removal of the vehicles from the affected area, scaffolding will be put up to allow the start of remedial work.

This will involve cladding using rendered concrete to secure the underside of the exposed metal beam and reinforce the structure.

Individual assessments of all six buildings on the compound will also be carried out, with remedial work to will be completed on those that need repair.

The HDC says officials will also meet with the four residents whose vehicles were damaged to initiate compensatory proceedings.
