Persons venturing to the beach for Carnival are urged to exercise caution, as a yellow level hazardous seas alert remains in effect.
The Met Service says northerly long period swells are affecting the northern and north-eastern coastlines of Trinidad and Tobago, and to a lesser extent – the north facing shoreline in the Gulf of Paria.
It warns that these swells can result in battering waves at coastal regions and can be exacerbated during high tides.
Nearshore activities such as fishing, sea bathing, mooring of boats etc. can also be adversely affected.
The Alert is in place until 10am on Wednesday 14th February 2024.
