Guyana’s President Dr. Irfaan Ali has strongly criticized Transparency International’s latest ranking of the country in the Corruption Perceptions Index Report 2024.
Guyana slipped from 40 points in 2023 to 39 points in 2024, ranking 92 out of 180 countries on the global corruption scale.
President Ali suggested the ranking is based on political bias and questioned the validity and accountability of perception indicators.
He believes Guyana made significant progress in transparency and accountability, noting praise from the IMF.
