The two survivors of a helicopter crash in Guyana have been extracted from the mountains in the Mazaruni area.

Seven Guyana Defence Force personnel were on board the Bell 412 helicopter that crashed on Wednesday in the Essequibo region.

The survivors are Lieutenant Andio Crawford and Corporal Dwayne Jackson.

The Guyana Defence Force says they were flown to the Blakeslater Aerodrome where they checked by medical doctors.

They were then taken to the Eugene F Correia International Airport.
