Four persons are now dead following an incident that began with a shooting in Belmont and ended with a shooting at the Port of Spain General Hospital.
Around 7:15pm, several men were liming along Lange Street, Gonzales, in the vicinity of Shakers Pan Yard, when a white coloured AD Wagon pulled up and several gunmen exited.
They fired on the group, with 30-year-old Peter Williams, later pronounced dead at the scene.
Several of the wounded were taken to the Hospital where the NWRHA says two were pronounced dead.
In a statement, it adds that while medical staff were attending to the remaining injured, several masked assailants clad in police tactical gear entered the hospital armed with high-powered rifles and fatally shot one of the patients.
Those three victims have been named as 28-year-old Jonathan Arjoon, 21-year-old Jayden Reyes, and 31-year-old Kevin King.
The NWRHA says the security and police presence at the hospital have been significantly increased, with multiple checkpoints in place.
Also, in an interview with TV6 this morning, Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh said the hospital’s camera system was able to pick up footage of the assailants and their vehicle and has since been turned over to police.
